Captain America: The First Avenger Review

So I finally saw Captain America and here's my review:

Plot (Without Spoilers):
The movie starts in present day time where a few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents make an amazing discovery in the arctic. At this point the movie then transitions over to Tønsberg, Norway in March of 1942 where a Nazi officer Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving) is looking for an artifact of Norse origin. Meanwhile in New York City, a puny Steve Rogers (Chris Evens) is getting rejected WWII duty. He goes and sees a movie where a heckler in the crowd is being disrespectful towards the men fighting in the war. Steve stands up to him and the next scene we see is Steve getting beat up by the Heckler in the ally. Steve is very brave and wont give up.The Heckler is about to continue until Sgt. James "Bucky" Barnes (Sebastian Stan) steps in and helps Steve. Steve and Bucky go on a double date to the Modern Marvels of Tomorrow exhibition where famous inventor Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) is demonstrating his newest invention: The Hover Car. Steve sneaks away while everyone is distracted to another recruitment center.When Bucky find him there they argue about why Steve wants to sign up so bad.Meanwhile unbeknownst to them, Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) is listening in.Steve explains to Bucky that he wants to help his country. Bucky leaves and Steve goes in for his examination. Dr. Erskine walks in during Steve's examination and offers Steve one last chance to serve his country. Steve excepts and is sent to boot camp. There, under Colonel Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones) and SSR officer Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), one will be chosen as the first in a "super-soldier" experiment. Phillips suggests Gilmore Hodge (Lex Shrapnel), but an act of self-sacrificing bravery by Rogers convinces Erskine to use Rogers. In a secret lab behind a Brooklyn antique store, Erskine and others gather with Senator Brandt (Michael Brandon) and U.S. State Department employee Fred Clemson (Richard Armitage) as Rogers is given micro-injections of serum and doused with what Erskine calls "vita-rays". Rogers emerges from a chamber tall and muscular.

For what happens next you'll have to go see the movie, now in Theaters.

In movie Easter Eggs:

• Those of you that stayed after the credits in "Thor" and other comic book fans will recognize the Cosmic Cube which has a fairly large role in this film.
• In the fight between Puny Steve and the Heckler, Steve grabs a trash can lid and tries to use it as a shield.
• Steve and Bucky go to what looks like the 1942 version of the Stark Expo, very similar to what we see in Iron Man 2.
• There is some definite foreshadow of the fate of Arnim Zola early in the movie.
• In a chase scene later in the movie, Steve uses a Taxi door with a star in the middle as a shield as well.
• Steve dons his classic Captain America outfit. Tights and all.
• A pretty famous Captain America comic book cover makes an appearance.
• The Howlers appear in the movie. The team is Timothy "Dum Dum" Dugan (Neal McDonough), Gabe Jones (Derek Luke), Jim Morita (Kenneth Choi), James Montgomery Falsworth (J. J. Feild), and Jacques Dernier (Bruno Ricci), James "Bucky" Barnes (Sebastian Stan), and of course Steve Rogers aka "Captain America" (Chris Evens)
• After the credits there is a trailer for "The Avengers". If you want to see it check out my last post.

Overall it was an awesome movie. 4 1/2 out of 5 Vibranium Shields.

Green Lantern Review

Hey guys, what's new?
Ok, so I just got home from Green Lantern and I have to say I really liked it. A lot of people out there are saying the movie wasn't that good, but I have to disagree. I believe that movie found the balance where it's a good movie if you've never read the comics, but also true to comic book fans that have been following Hal Jordan's adventures for years. There where some nice nods back to the original series too.

• The character Tom Kalmaku (aka "Pieface")
• Carol Ferris' code name during the flying exercise in the beginning of the movie is "Sapphire" (a referance to Star Sapphire) as well as the Star Sapphire symbol on her helmet.
• Amanda Waller appears in the movie.
• A VERY cool scene after the credits that is HUGE to Green Lantern fans.

Like I said earlier, I loved the movie. I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 Power Rings.

Sorry it's been so long

Hey guys, it's been a while. I've been trying to keep up with all of the E3 excitement, so I will be posting some more updates soon. But today I saw X Men First class, so I'm going to give my quick review.
X-Men: First Class
The movie starts off with a scene that will be very familiar to those of you that saw the first movie. It goes on to show us how Charles (Prof. X) and Raven (Mystique) met and how Erik (Magneto)started down the path to become the villain he is today. There's a nice cameo of Wolverine and possibly Storm in the movie. Stan Lee doesn't make an appearance and there's nothing after the credits, so that's kinda lame. Overall the movie is pretty good, violent at some points and there's a few scenes in strip clubs, so it's a good thing this movie is PG13. I liked the movie, had some major plot holes, but still good. I give it 3 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Comic Con Day 4

Sorry I'm a day behind on the last two recaps. Here's the last review for the 2011 Phoenix Comic Con:
Sunday:
So we realized we couldn't go see George Takei due to previous commitments, so we showed up around 11:30 to see Billy Dee Williams talk about his career. I went in nerdy, green lantern-fan-boy, civilian clothes with Tinkerbell. There were some fun questions for Billy Dee and a friend of mine that's a Jawa went up and asked him a question. He was very laid back, and there's not a whole lot to tell except that he wears boxers and not briefs. After Bill Dee was the Chuck  panel with Robert Duncan McNeill and Adam Baldwin. They're both funny guys and were great. The told us that they don't know whats going to happen next season because the writers are going to get together in a couple weeks and figure everything out. Afterwards, Tinkerbell and I got Wil Wheaton's signature. Tinkerbell got it on a mint condition, still in its original packing, Wesley Crusher toy, and I got it on my program.
That's pretty much it for Phoenix Comic Con 2011. It was a blast, there were a lot of cool costumes and lots of stars. I'm hoping to go next year if they have it again. There's been some talk about next year's con, but if they have it again next year, I definitively want to go. Well that's all for now. Catch ya later!

Comic Con Day 3

Sorry I didn't post anything last night. There was a quick update, but not a full review. so here it goes:
Saturday:
I went as Superboy, and I went with Scarlet Spider, Sheik, and Superman. We met up with my friend, "The Silver Puma", and waited in line for Bruce Boxleitner. He was great, he talked about being in the original Tron and what it was like when he came back for Tron: Legacy. Then he talked about the upcoming show for Disney XD, Tron: Uprising, because he's doing some voice overs for the show. He also talked about Babylon 5 and the great cast they had there. He mourned the death over his Babylon 5 co-star, Jeff Conway who died only the day before on May 27. After Boxleitner, we went over to a panel with Robert Duncan McNeill. He is the Director and Producer of Chuck and Played Tom Paris on Star Trek: Voyager. He was a great guy. He was funny and smart and really nice (and he can juggle). He told us about how he started out on Voyager and how he started directing. A lot of people wanted to know what's going on with Chuck for the next season, but he told us that he doesn't  know, but the writers will get together in a couple weeks and figure everything out. After that, we went back into the ballroom where we were for Boxleitner and watched Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy announced previously that his appearance at Phoenix Comic Con might be his last before he retires.It was really cool. He told his life story and showed us some pictures, he told us about the birth of the Vulcan neck-pinch and "Live long and Prosper" hand. If it was his last appearance, then he made it with dignity. He lived up to and exceeded all my expectations of him. Following Nimoy, was Stan, the man himself, Lee accompanied by Jaime Paglia. Stan and Jaime met last year at Phoenix Comic Con and are great friends. Stan says Jaime is a fantastic guy and is amazingly smart. Stan was asked about his favorite cameo appearance he made, if he knew anything about the villain for The Avengers movie, Stan Lee's favorite DC hero, and Mavel's relationship with DC. Stan's favorite cameo was in one of the Spider-man movies but is now his appearance in Thor, he knows nothing about the Avengers villain but if he did know he would probably tell us since he can't keep a secret, he liked the character Lobo but doesn't know much about him, and told us about how all the DC and Marvel guys used to be friends and how he'd love another Marvel and DC team up. He was a little hard of hearing, so Jaime had to retell him some of the questions. After Stan's panel, there was a Eureka panel with Jamie Paglia again and Wil Wheaton. We saw Wil Wheaton last year and he was spectacular. He's funny and nice. He's appeared on Eureka (of course) as Dr. Issac Parrish, The Big Bang Theory as The Evil Wil Wheaton, Leverage as Chaos, and Star Trek: The Next Generation as Wesley Crusher. They talked about how exciting the new season of Eureka is and they debut a brand new sneak peak for the new season.
Afterwards we looked around for a bit more and then left.
